Are you ready to assemble the ultimate celebration for your little superhero? Look no further, because I’ve got the perfect guide to help you throw an unforgettable Avengers-themed birthday party!

We just threw my son Luke’s 6th birthday party with an Avengers theme – and he told me it was the best party yet!

In this blog post, I’ll share everything from action-packed decorations to Avenger-themed treats that transform your space into a Marvel masterpiece. You’ll be inspired to throw a birthday bash that will leave your little one and their friends talking about it for years to come!

Decorations:

We ended up renting a barn near us through an inflatables rental company. We used this same venue last year and it has worked out perfect. The kids are entertained by the bounce houses in between the planned party activities. The decorations were minimal because of this huge area, but I did decorate a treat table and made some table centerpieces.

We only had about a half hour for set up…which definitely makes things a little stressful in the moment, but the limited time helped to keep my decorating to a minimum.

Avengers A Logo

Avengers Birthday Party Backdrop

One of my favorite decor pieces ended up being this Avengers A logo that I used as part of the backdrop for the treat table. I used two pieces of foam board, one for the “A” and one for the circle around it. Initially I spray painted with the paper backing on the foam board, which caused it to bubble up. I removed this and since I figured it was already ruined, I tried spray painting directly on the foam underneath. The spray paint started to eat away at the foam. My first thought was to just scrap it, but after finishing the coats of spray paint it had an aged metal look and went perfect with the theme.

Below is a quick video of this process from my Instagram page:

Balloon Arch and Backdrop

Luke initially asked for a Guardians of the Galaxy birthday party theme. I was having a hard time finding just Guardians of the Galaxy, so then he changed it to Avengers…but asked if Guardians of the Galaxy could be incorporated like the movie. That’s when I decided on the color theme…the blue, silver, and black gave it more of a space look for the Guardians of the Galaxy. I used three sequin backdrop curtains that I found on Amazon. The blue curtain I bought for this party and the silver curtains were from a 70th Birthday party we threw for Sean’s parents earlier this year. The balloon arch was from Amazon as well. I blew up all of the balloons a couple of days ahead of time and tied into sections. The sections were put together once we got onsite. Things got a little crazy trying to get everything set up in a half hour window…but we made it work!

Treat Table

I kept the Avengers theme going with the treat table. The tablecloth I bought on Amazon, and I thought it was great quality.
I created Captain’s Shield on a round serving platter using strawberries, blueberries and white chocolate pretzels. For star in the middle, I used a star cookie cutter that I placed on the platter and added the pretzels inside. The kids loved this, and the entire platter was eaten.
I used small bottles of Green Hawaiin Punch since I thought it was better than having glasses of green juice…maybe less chance of spilling. I added them to an ice bucket and had Hulk standing on a small cake stand inside.

Thor’s Hammers were cheese blocks with some wood picks for the handles. When I asked Luke if they looked like hammers he said “Well, you tried”. They still got eaten up along with the rest of the treat table.

We did a couple of Guardians of the Galaxy themed treats as well: Pretzel rods for Groot’s Pieces and Rocket’s Pop Rockets (Pop Rocks). I put some Avengers masks on the treat table, and these always seem to be a big hit with the kids. These Avengers ring pops were from Amazon and perfect for finishing off the table treats. Lastly, we had cupcakes. I made regular cupcakes and ice cream cone cupcakes. These now make their appearance at every birthday party we have. I love that the cone helps everyone easily hold onto the cupcake. You can make these a few different ways, but I finally ended up getting these ice cream cone cupcake holders – you can back in them, then display the cupcakes after.

Treat Bags, Pinata and Everything Else

Avengers Superhero Treat Bags
I made the treat bags since I couldn’t find any that had both the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy characters. I bought these black bags from Amazon and printed out pictures onto sticker paper. We mostly had kids fill up their treat bags with the pinata candy and toys, but I did add some fun Avengers themed sticker pages, superhero punching balloons and Avengers ChapStick.
Avengers pinata

We made the pinata again this year. Sean always likes to make them so that they are harder to break open. This one we didn’t add as much tape, so it broke open a little easier this time. Making a pinata is actually pretty easy, just a lot of cardboard and tape. The hardest part is how long it takes to cut and glue on the streamers.

Want an easy centerpiece idea? Use the toys your child already has! I spray painted a few wood plaque rounds and added some of Luke’s superhero figures using putty to attach. The putty worked great to be able to remove the toys after the party without damage. I filled the Avenger balloons with helium and tied them to the toys. Easy and festive centerpiece!

As we reach the end of our superhero saga, I hope this post has given you the creative sparks and inspiration needed to embark on your own Avengers-themed birthday adventure.  I’m thrilled to have been part of your party-planning mission. Thank you for coming along and I wish you the best of luck in creating a birthday bash that will be remembered for years to come. Here’s to celebrating in true superhero style!
